Heroin is growing exponentially in the Twin Ports area and IT'S NOT JUST affecting "THOSE PEOPLE!" It's affecting OUR families and OUR children. It's affecting OUR friends, OUR neighbors. It’s affecting OUR employee’s families and OUR students. It’s the FUTURE of OUR community! WE MUST START TALKING ABOUT IT! Keeping quiet about this issue in fear of the social stigma currently in place here is ALLOWING the problem to escalate and WE, as a Community, lose more of OUR kids to it daily. It can only take one stupid and regrettable mistake of trying it and they are hooked. We need to be able to talk about it without shame, embarrassment, or judgment. Who here has never made a stupid and regrettable mistake? Why young people think Heroin is ok to try is still BEYOND me and it begs the question; did we stop talking about the dangers of Heroin? We must begin educating each other with what we know and we must begin now! We need to share our stories. We need to share our knowledge. We need ignorance of this issue to be a thing of the past. Every second that passes, knowing my precious daughter is out there somewhere continually at risk of dying, I wonder if she is still alive minute to minute, is sheer torture! It is that high pitch/high frequency blast of fear adrenaline that shocks and stings as it blasts through your chest & stomach that also makes your knees so weak you fold to the ground. It is constantly with me. I KNOW I’M NOT THE ONLY ONE DEALING WITH THIS OR THAT HAS BEEN THROUGH THIS! I want us to know each other. I want us to share our experiences & inspire each other! I now plan to develop this campaign to not only find her but to also educate the public on this TREMENDOUS battle and begin a real, honest, open dialogue. It shall remain named, Izzy Come Home, in her honor. I have big dreams for this. Please stand with me while I continue to do everything I possibly can to help save our children from this. Please stand together with me to take back our communities, even nationwide!! Please stand with me to battle societal ignorance & social stigma. Please keep supporting Izzy Come Home! Izzy, keep warm tonight, please know our love for you is infinite. Please be safe my girl. Goodnight.
